We here explore demographic characteristics and inflammatory biomarker as predictors of treatment response in this group. The aim of this small-scale, exploratory study was to generate preliminary data that could help inform future RCTs testing predictors of treatment response of pramipexole.Methods: Twelve patients with unipolar or bipolar disorder, moderate-to-severe depression, and significant anhedonia symptoms were included. All patients received 10 weeks of adjunctive pramipexole titrated to a maximum dose of 4.5 mg salt/day. Dimensional Anhedonia Rating Scale, Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS), and Snaith-Hamilton Pleasure Scale (SHAPS) were used for symptom evaluation. Pre-and post-treatment analyses of high-sensitivity Creactive protein, white blood cells, tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin 6 (IL-6) were performed. Spearman's rank-order correlation was used to determine the relationship between treatment-associated symptom change and demographic factors as well as inflammatory markers.Results: Age was not significantly correlated with treatment response.
