In this chapter, the influence on the mixing and segregation of a binary mixture of particles in a tapered bed is investigated. The segregation and mixing of agglomerates was studied by extracting layers of particles from a de-fluidised bed. The layers were examined by measuring particle size and determining the agglomerate distribution. The agglomerate distribution in the bed was also examined by following a radioactive tracer, using the Positron Emission Particle Tracking (PEPT) technique.
