Gitelman syndrome is an autosomal recessive kidney disorder characterized by low potassium levels (hypokalemia) and excess base in the blood (metabolic alkalosis) along with low calcium levels in the urine (hypocalciuria) and low magnesium levels (hypomagnesemia).
