This study examined smoking prevalence and factors associated with weekly smoking among secondary school students in Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia. The study found that 19.0% of students smoked, with significantly more male smokers (35.8%) than female smokers (3.15%). Students who were male, had peers who smoked, and lived in rural or Felda settlement areas were more likely to smoke weekly. Those with better knowledge of smoking hazards and negative attitudes toward smoking were less likely to smoke weekly.
