This study developed a 3D finite element model to simulate water transport in concrete. The model represents concrete as a three-phase composite of coarse aggregates, mortar matrix, and an interfacial transition zone (ITZ). Numerical tests were conducted to calculate permeability coefficients and study the effects of aggregates and ITZ on concrete permeability.
