About this document

Essbase Storage Options and Functions by Mushtaq Sheriff is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Essbase has two storage options - ASO and BSO. ASO is for sparse structures with many dimensions and does not support writeback. BSO is for dense structures with fewer dimensions and supports writeback for planning applications. Dimensions are dense if most intersections contain values, and sparse if many intersections are empty. UDAs represent member classes and do not impact storage size, while attribute dimensions dynamically calculate metrics and can impact report performance.
