The story is set in a kingdom in West Java ruled by King Prabu. Though the king and queen wanted a child, they were unable to have one until Prabu prayed in the jungle and the queen became pregnant. Their daughter grew up spoiled but beloved. On her 17th birthday, the king gifted her a beautiful necklace which she threw to the ground in a tantrum, shocking everyone. The queen began crying and the people joined, forming a pool that became a large lake called Talaga Warna where the pieces of the necklace are
