Respirology - 2024 - Hemstock - Lung Function Changes in Children Exposed To Mine Fire Smoke in Infancy by Seravina Ayu Vistiandini is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This study investigated the impact of early life exposure to PM2.5 from the Hazelwood coalmine fire on lung function in children at ages 3 and 7. The results indicated no significant associations between PM2.5 exposure and lung function measures, suggesting that previously observed deficits had resolved by the 7-year follow-up. Moderate improvements in lung stiffness were noted, indicating a recovery in lung function over time following the acute exposure.
