Machchindra visited the temple of Kalika Devi, also known as Bhadrakali Devi, located on a hill outside the village of Aadul. Kalika Devi was a weapon of God Shiva that helped him defeat demons. Machchindra requested her help in achieving mastery in poetry, but she refused, saying she came to earth for rest. An argument ensued that turned into a war between them. In the war, Machchindra defeated Kalika Devi, who then called upon God Shiva. Shiva stopped the war and convinced Kalika Devi to help Machchindra
