This patent describes a method for producing hydrazine and hydrazine hydrate through distillation. A hydrazine salt is mixed with an amine that boils at a higher temperature than hydrazine. The mixture is distilled, producing hydrazine or hydrazine hydrate in the distillate. The concentration of hydrazine hydrate can be controlled by adding varying amounts of water to the reaction mixture before distillation. Several examples are provided to illustrate the process.
