## Abstract Women are a central subject in the process of the reception of Vatican II. This chapter examines the factors and phases in the affirmation and recognition of women as full subjects in the post-conciliar Church through the lens of feminist theologies. Women’s appropriation of an authoritative, competent public voice is translated into visibility and strategic importance in theological discourses. In terms of a methodological framework and themes addressed, feminist theologies demonstrate their acceptance of the lesson of Vatican II while broadening its perspectives—in recognition of the specificity of human beings’ and believers’ sex and gender (dealt with in conciliar documents with universalizing and apparently neutral anthropological models)—and pointing out possible ways to further the necessary reform of ecclesial structures.
