What is Lima : Espacio Público, Arte Y Ciudad about?

This book brings together the papers presented in the event "Seminario Internacional Lima: espacio público, arte y ciudad" held at the Facultad de Arte of the PUCP, between the 17th and 25th of August of 2010 with the participation of distinguished Peruvian researchers and artist/sculptor Lika Mutal. The seminar also included the special participation of Antoni Remesar, specialist in public space and urban regeneration from the University of Barcelona. The central theme of the seminar was public space, with an emphasis on the analysis of the city of Lima. It was approached from different perspectives, alluding to the memory of its urban configuration, to public spaces as sensitive scenarios where citizenship is manifested and public art assumes the importance that plays in the construction of the city. The seminar dealt with theoretical, historical, artistic and urban, aspects concerning the spatial configuration of the pre-Hispanic cities and the complexity of the development of contemporary public spaces, as well as the role of public art as articulator
