What is Springer-Verlag: History of a Scientific Publishing House : Part 2: 1945 - 1992. Rebuilding - Opening Frontiers - Securing the Future about?

The second part of the 150 years of Springer's history starts after World War II and continues up to 1992, when a change in management took place. This period can be seen as a single unit with regard to the influence of the personalities as well as the publishing policy they represented. Two parts can be distinguished: First, the time of rebuilding in Germany and in Vienna, followed by a period of internationalization. The founding of a branch in New York in 1964 was the starting point of this era, the time when the English language started to become very important for Springer's scientific books and journals. The second step was the awareness of the growing importance of East Asia leading to branches in Tokyo, New Delhi and Hong Kong, thus aiming at Springer's global presence in scientific literature.
