What is Electrocoagulation of Dairy Effluents about?
This study examines the efficiency of electrocoagulation using aluminum electrodes to treat dairy effluents. Experiments were conducted on artificial wastewater made from milk powder. The electrocoagulation process reduced chemical oxygen demand by 61% and removed 89% of phosphorus, 81% of nitrogen, and 100% of turbidity. However, lactose was not eliminated, accounting for the moderate reduction in chemical oxygen demand. Electrocoagulation was found to be as effective as chemical coagulation using aluminum
