About this document

D-Angelo-Et-Al-2021-Heliox-Administration-In-Anesthetized-Rabbits-With-Spontaneous-Inspiratory-Flow-Limitation 2020 by weslei.chacon is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study examined the effects of heliox (80% helium in O2) on tidal inspiratory flow limitation (tIFL) in anesthetized rabbits, a model for obstructive sleep apnea. While heliox increased peak inspiratory flow and ventilation, it did not eliminate tIFL, which was effectively resolved by continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). The variability in response to heliox among rabbits was linked to mechanical and geometrical factors of the upper airway, rather than baseline breathing characteristics.
