About this document

Understanding Oracle Data Blocks by Reddy is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The Oracle Server stores data in blocks, which are the smallest unit of storage in a database. A data block contains a fixed header, table directory, row directory, free space, and row data. Block corruptions can be either physical, where the database does not recognize the block at all, or logical, where the contents of the block are logically inconsistent.
