Gregor Samsa wakes up transformed into a giant insect and is unable to work or support his family financially. Over time, his family becomes increasingly disturbed by his condition and neglects caring for him. As Gregor tries to help by crawling out of his room, his father attacks him with apples, severely injuring him. After overhearing Grete express how Gregor has ruined their lives, he dies alone in his room as his family begins to move on without him.
