This study evaluated the utility of orthopantomography (dental x-rays) for human identification. 300 dental x-rays were analyzed from a dental hospital. Dental patterns were classified into 8 codes and the diversity was calculated. The diversity for full dentition was 99.92%. The diversity was slightly higher for the mandible (99.28%) than the maxilla (98.22%). For molars and premolars, diversity ranged from 92.13-96.04%. Diversity was lower for anterior teeth.
