About this document

Analyzing Rizal by C-Evangelista Donalyn B. Evangelista is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Rizal disagreed with the planned uprising of the Katipunan because he believed reforms should come from above, not violence. As his lawyer, I would have pleaded guilty to sedition to avoid the conspiracy and rebellion charges and play for leniency instead of certain execution. Rizal wanted to be shot in the small of his back rather than the head so he would not die as a traitor to Spain and could fall facing the sky in his last act of protest against the charges against him.
