This document describes a study on carbon nano-layer coated TiO2 nanoparticles for photocatalytic CO2 reduction. TiO2 alone only absorbs UV light and has a wide band gap. The researchers coated TiO2 with a carbon nano-layer via pyrolysis of polyethylene. This enhanced light absorption in the visible region, decreased the band gap, and restricted electron-hole recombination.
