What is Barry McCallister about?

Barry McCallister is a tender rural giant who lives in a sheltering house. After a troubling visit from another giant, Barry sets out on a quest with trolls and wizards to find three noisy pieces of bacon guarded by giants. Barry surprises himself with his intelligence and skill during the search. He rescues and befriends a hawk but their friendship ends when Barry refuses to do some cooking. Barry is wounded in the Battle of Five Armies but reconciles with the hawk before engaging in some serious cooking.
