The Etchart family has been in the wine business in Argentina since 1850. In the early 20th century, Arnaldo Benito Etchart bought the La Florida property and winery, which his son Arnaldo later developed the successful Etchart brand. In the late 1980s and 1990s, Arnaldo Etchart worked with renowned oenologist Michel Rolland to develop premium red wines for the Etchart winery and a new venture called San Pedro de Yacochuya, with the first wines from the new winery being released domestically in 1995.
