1) Akbar was born in 1542 in Rajasthan, India to the Mughal emperor Humayun during his exile from India. 2) Akbar spent his youth in Kabul being trained in combat but did not learn to read or write. He was appointed as a viceroy at a young age. 3) After Humayun reconquered Delhi in 1555, he died shortly after and the 14-year old Akbar succeeded him as emperor under the regency of Bairam Khan.
