The excise duty on cigarettes, liquor, and ethyl alcohol in Sri Lanka has been revised effective October 6th, 2012. The new rates were published in government gazette notifications on October 5th, 2012. Cigarette excise duty is now Rs. 7,000 per kg for cigars and between Rs. 4,612-18,500 per 1,000 cigarettes depending on length.
