This circuit generates a fast 1ns pulse with 350ps rise and fall times using an avalanche transistor. A switching regulator converts a 1.5V battery input to the 90V required for avalanche. When a capacitor charges enough, the transistor avalanches, producing a quickly rising pulse. Oscillation occurs at 200kHz.
