This study investigates the relationship between perceived power, emotional expression suppression, and the prevalence of male-to-female dating violence among adolescents and young men. It finds that negative and positive affect, along with emotional suppression, mediate the connection between power dynamics and dating violence, particularly in young men. The authors suggest that promoting equal relationships and emotional expression strategies may help reduce dating violence incidents.
