What is Ida B. Wells-Barnett: Justice Activism about?
Ida B. Wells-Barnett was an anti-lynching crusader and journalist in the late 19th/early 20th century who fought against racial segregation and lynching. She was removed from a train in 1884 for refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger, sparking her career as a journalist exposing the fraudulent reasons used to justify lynching of Black men. Wells-Barnett went on to help form several civil rights organizations and was a pioneer as one of the first Black women to run for political office in the Unit
