What is Music about?

Music was present in many aspects of the life of the people of Israel in the Old Testament. It is mentioned for the first time in Genesis and was used to celebrate victories, rituals, and important events. Music was an integral part of both religious and secular celebrations and played a central role in the worship of the Jerusalem temple, where professional musicians were established. Although music became more formal and institutionalized, prophets like Amos criticized the ritual emptiness and injustice.
