About this document

Central Bank Forecasts and Private Expectations by Filipe Costa Vieira is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This paper investigates whether central bank (CB) inflation forecasts impact private inflation forecasts in five countries: Sweden, the UK, Canada, Switzerland, and Japan. The findings indicate that CB forecasts do influence private forecasts, but this influence is not linked to the accuracy of the CB forecasts. The study suggests that the influence may stem from the distinct information sets used by CBs and the signals they convey regarding future policy decisions.
