The authors do not attempt to provide the reader with information about treatment of the disorders or a list of references, thus further limiting the use of this text. Although a list of selected readings is provided at the end of the book, many of these are derived from non-English literature. The authors of this text have achieved their stated objective in helping the reader develop a differential diagnosis for the patient presenting with a particular symptom. The textbook could be improved by the use of algorithms. The briefness of the discussions, lack of any treatment recommendations, and limited referencing significantly weaken the overall usefulness of this text for the head and neck specialist. Primary care physicians will find useful information in their evaluation of patients with complaints in the head and neck.
