Can I read Interaction of Acetonylmercuric Bromide and Bis(acetonyl)mercury with Aldehydes on EtoBox?

Interaction of Acetonylmercuric Bromide and Bis(acetonyl)mercury with Aldehydes by G.A. Artamkina; I.P. Beletskaya; O.A. Reutov is a Chemistry article available to read on EtoBox.

What is Interaction of Acetonylmercuric Bromide and Bis(acetonyl)mercury with Aldehydes about?

Organomercury compounds containing effective electron-withdrawing groups are poorly reactive under SE2 reaction conditions. However, under conditions of anionic catalysis the compounds wilI react even with rather weak electrophiles [SE 1 (N)] '. In view of this we wish to report the carrying out of a "Grignard-like" reaction of carbonyl compounds with organomercurials in the presence of an anionic catalyst. We found that acetonyhnercuric bromide and bis(acetony1)mercur-y react with pentafiuorobenz.aIdehyde (PFBA) with bromide ions as catalystzthe ketoalcohols are formed after hydrolysis\_ Br-C6 Fs CHO + (CH, COCH, )a Hg -H o C6Fs CH(OH)CHa COCH3 2
