What is Correlation of Photocatalytic CO 2 Conversion and Electronic Structure of UiO-66 and Cu-UiO-66-NH 2 Under Irradiation Studied by In-Situ X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy about?

To alleviate global warming, the conversion of CO 2 into chemicals has received much attention. A metal-organic framework possesses an effective activity to convert CO 2 into hydrocarbons. We prepared UiO-66 and Cu-UiO-66-NH 2 to evaluate their capacity for the hydrogenation of CO 2 . Cu-UiO-66-NH 2 exhibits an excellent activity for hydrogenation greater than that of UiO-66; the generation rate of methanol was significantly improved to 2067.4 μmol/h . g. Powder x-ray diffraction patterns and xray photoelectron spectra show that (ZrO 2 ) 6 -octahedra form the core structure in UiO-66; Cu 2+ is plugged into the core to form Cu-O-Zr bonding in Cu-UiO-66-NH 2 . In-situ X-ray absorption spectra at the Zr and Cu K-edges indicate that the decreased valence of Zr in UiO-66 and the reduction of Cu 2+ to (Cu 2+ -Cu + ) transition states in Cu-UiO-66-NH 2 on irradiation are closely correlated with the corresponding various photocatalytic reactions. XAS results show clear evidence of charge transfer between Zr and Cu in Cu-UiO-66-NH 2 with irradiation on. Our research provides new insight into the intriguing mechanisms of photocatalytic hydrogenation for UiO-66 and Cu-UiO-66-NH 2 .
