This thesis explores the enhancement of heat transfer in nuclear fuel rod bundles using three-dimensional surface roughness techniques and nano-fluids. Experimental results indicate that a 2% ZnO nano-fluid with three-dimensional roughness achieves a maximum heat transfer coefficient enhancement of 33% compared to deionized water. The study concludes that nano-fluids outperform traditional coolants and that the type of surface roughness significantly affects thermal performance.
