The study investigates the prevalence of Melanocortin-4 Receptor (MC4R) mutations in Danish children and adolescents with obesity and their treatment responses. Out of 1209 participants, 2.5% carried damaging MC4R mutations, which were associated with a lack of significant reduction in BMI during treatment compared to noncarriers. The findings suggest the need for personalized obesity treatment strategies based on MC4R genotype.
