About this document

Writing Systems in Minoan Crete by Raphael Orgeolet is a document available to read on EtoBox.

During the Protopalatial period on Crete, two scripts were used for administration - Cretan Hieroglyphic and Linear A. Each had distinct document types but also shared some like sealings. It is argued that before scripts developed in the Prepalatial period, a single administrative system used sealings. The later diversity formed with political organizations in EM III/MM I and corresponded to regional burial customs.
