What is Awash Irrigation about?

The study evaluates the impact of Awash irrigation on the welfare of smallholder farmers in Eastern Ethiopia, revealing that irrigation users have significantly higher per capita consumption expenditure and income compared to non-users. It employs a two-stage stratified sampling technique and an endogenous switching regression model to address endogeneity issues. The findings suggest that promoting and expanding irrigation could improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in the region.
