What is Introduction to Graphic Design (Course notes) about?
Hello, I'm Paula Scher. I’m a graphic designer, teacher, and artist. I’ve worked as a designer for over 50 years, and for the past 32 years, I’ve been a partner at Pentagram Design in New York City. Throughout these notes, I hope to show you several of the many forms of graphic design, and share some of my philosophies for how to be a good designer. These lessons will inspire you, and give you a better understanding of the use of typography, scale, and colour in relation to all forms of graphic design. Through studying design examples from history, you’ll improve your work. And if you’re curious about design, these lessons will help you to see, and recognise design.
