What is Fungi Classification Overview about?
Fungi are classified into four main divisions: Zygomycota, Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, and Deuteromycota. Zygomycota fungi reproduce sexually through the fusion of hyphae. Ascomycota are characterized by their production of spores within sacs called asci. Basidiomycota form distinctive fruiting bodies and reproduce sexually through basidia. Deuteromycota were imperfect fungi whose sexual stages were unknown, reproducing only asexually through spores.
