What is Cultic Incised Scapulae from Ekron about?
Three well-stratified incised bovine scapulae were found at Ekron in Philistia in an Iron Age I shrine. Seventeen incised scapulae in total were uncovered at Ekron, with eleven dating to Iron Age I. The largest number, ten scapulae, were found in Field I, including four found closely associated with cultic practices in Room 22.
