About this document
Chromosome Numbers in Curcuma Species by Dr. Sudesh Kumar is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This study investigated chromosomal and genome size variation in Curcuma species from India. Six different chromosome counts were found, including two new records. Genome sizes varied 2.87-fold. Three groups with distinct genome sizes and geographic distributions were identified. Some species showed intraspecific genome size variation. Chromosome counts and genome sizes supported relationships and taxonomy of some taxa. A new combination, C. scaposa, is proposed.
