What is Barremian-Aptian Carbonate Succession in Oman about?

This document describes Barremian to Lower Aptian shallow-water carbonate deposits from northern Oman. Three orders of depositional sequences are defined based on facies analysis and bedding patterns. Over three third-order sequences, a succession of three distinct faunal assemblages is documented that is controlled by paleoenvironmental changes rather than sedimentological factors. Orbitolinid beds and carbonates formed by microbialites seem to reflect global climatic changes of the Late Barremian to Aptia
