About this document
CPPD Calcification in Knee Imaging Study by Alex Gaina is a document available to read on EtoBox.
This study examined 10 cadaver knees for evidence of calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystal deposition. CPPD crystals were found in 4 of the 10 knees (40%), with calcifications seen in articular cartilage, menisci, cruciate ligaments, popliteus tendon, and joint capsule. Magnetic resonance imaging detected some calcifications in the femoral condyles of 3 knees but was less sensitive than radiography and histology in detecting calcifications. Histologic analysis confirmed the presence of CPPD crystal
