This study investigates the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in degrading organic pollutants in distillery spent wash (DSW) using Sorghum bicolor plants. Results show that mycorrhizal plants significantly reduced the number of complex colored organic compounds in leachates compared to non-mycorrhizal plants, indicating the potential of AM fungi in bioremediation. The findings suggest that AM fungi can be an effective biological solution to mitigate groundwater pollution caused by DSW.
