What is Possibility of lithium sulfate borate-based glass doping with Ni and Mn ions in energy storage application about?
This work presents the study of nickel manganese lithium sulfate borate-based glasses for energy storage application. The glasses component system, 0.2(NiO–MnO2)-0.8(xLi2S–B2O3) with x = 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mol, respectively, was synthesized by conventional melt-quench method. The glass structural motif was preliminarily confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The oxidation states and local structural information around Ni and Mn atoms were characterized by X-ray absorption spectroscopic technique (XAS; Beamline 5.2, SLRI, Thailand). Interestingly, the oxidation states of Ni and Mn ions in all prepared vitreous samples clearly exhibited Ni2+ and Mn2+/3+. Moreover, the local bonding distances of Ni–O, Mn–O and S–O were also revealed by the extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurement. In order to study a possibility of prepared glasses in energy storage application, the glass cathodes were successfully prepared and investigated using an electrochemical study with CV measurement.
