This study aimed to compare ultrasound (US) to chest x-ray (CXR) for confirming central vascular catheter (CVC) placement in 151 patients. US identified all correctly placed catheters by detecting turbulence entering the right atrium after a saline flush. CXR found 4 misplaced catheter tips that US detected in 3 cases.
