About this document

Final Value Theorem Proof and Formula by Sathya Ayhtas is a document available to read on EtoBox.

The final value theorem states that the final value of a discrete-time signal x(k), or its value as k approaches infinity, can be determined from the limit of (1 - z^-1)X(z) as z approaches 1, where X(z) is the z-transform of x(k). This holds if all poles of X(z) lie inside the unit circle, except for a possible simple pole at z=1. The document proves the theorem by taking the limit of X(z) - z^-1X(z) as z approaches 1, and relating it to the sum of x(k) - x(k-1) from k=0 to infinity.
