The document describes an experimental study on the effect of different ground types on airflow and temperature distribution in a solar chimney power plant. Three ground types were tested: sand, a mix of sand and pebbles, and black pebbles. The black pebble ground resulted in the highest chimney air temperature of 66.8°C and highest temperature difference of 23.2°C. The mixed ground reached the highest basement temperature of 81.6°C. Testing occurred in July-August 2016 in Kerbala, Iraq on a prototype plant
