What is Tony Velasquez: Father of Tagalog Komiks about?

Antonio Santos Velasquez, known as the "Father of Tagalog Komiks", was born in Manila in 1910. He worked as a photo-engraver while in high school and took courses in cartooning and advertising. In 1935, he became the chief artist for six magazines including Liwayway, creating his first comic strip "Kenkoy" which appeared in 1929 and survived the Japanese occupation. Velasquez received several awards for his contributions to Filipino comics before passing away in 1997.
