About this document
Waste Management Concepts and Strategies is a document available to read on EtoBox.
Waste management is needed to address growing waste volumes. Traditional methods like open dumping pollute the environment. Newer integrated waste management (IWM) uses a hierarchy of reduce, reuse, recycle to minimize waste. IWM also uses methods like composting, incineration, and properly engineered sanitary landfills that contain leachate and gas. Proper landfill site selection considers factors like geology, soils, hydrology and climate to limit pollution risks to groundwater and the environment.
