The rock cores collected from the test site for a proposed one lane highway tunnel were analyzed. The majority of rock samples were found to be highly intact with little weathering. The core samples contained rhyolite, schist, phyllite and sandstone. Weaker joints at depths of 24 ft and 37 ft contained mineralization and should be avoided during construction.
